BRASOV

welcome

Braşov is located in the central part of the country, about 166 km from Bucharest. It is surrounded by the Southern Carpathians, and is part of the Transylvania region. Also known by the German name of Kronstadt, the city of Brasov is one of the largest and most cherished cities of the country. Surrounded on three sides by mountains, it was a perfect place for a medieval settlement.

Population: 300,000
A mixed city with subtle, yet very active, industrial element including Colgate Palmolive, Mercedes, various auto, helicopter, and tractor manufacturers. Furniture textiles and food processing add to the industrial variety.

Education: University
The cities' universities provide a reliable and well educated administrative, commercial, and industrial workforce.

Tourism: All year round
Brasov is the country's most visited tourist destination. Primarily, the nearby castle at Bran (Count Dracula's home) draws the crowds in thousands. Tthe ski resort at Preadeal is attracts a large number of tourists every year. The Poina Brasov purpose built ski resort, regularly tops the list as the best family friendly & value for money world ski resort.
A new 100 million euro Golf and sports holliday village is to be built at Poina Mica and other tourist developments are planned, for which we are consultants.

Airport: International
An international airport is to be built next to the largest helicopter factory to enable tourists to fly in and out of Brasov. The ski resorts are 20 minutes away from the airport and 15 minutes away is Brasov city centre. Due to open in 2008. We are consultants to the airport project and adjacent real estate opportunities and expect good news re: the development in March 2007.

Road Network: Transylvanian Highway
A new highway is being built from the Hungarian border to Braşov; then to Bucharest. This reduces journey times to Western Europe and reduces the time to Bucharest to about 75 minutes. This is part of the new Highway to Western Europe.
